New Student Orientation

Welcome to your first year of college!

New Student Orientation (NSO) teaches you everything you need to know for your first semester on-campus. 

Attending NSO is required for all incoming Freshman, so you'll have a chance to meet fellow classmates, and when it's over, you'll be ready for your first day of class!

What to expect

Take care of the business of being a new student

  • Get your Student ID, the CrimsonCard (be ready to say "cheeeeeese!" 📸)!
  • Meet with your academic advisor.
  • Register for classes.
  • Private, one-on-one financial aid appointment with an advisor.
  • All the answers you need to prepare for your first day of class.

Learn about life & opportunities on-campus

  • Where to eat, play, study (or nap after cramming all night 📚😴)
  • Student clubs & organizations you can join
  • Available opportunties like study abroad & internships
  • The Wi-Fi password, tech access (IQ Wall, VR lab, smart classrooms, etc...), free software, etc...
  • What we do to keep you safe here

What to bring

  • University ID# (on your acceptance letter)
  • Your IU Account username & passphrase
  • Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver's license, state ID card)
  • Mobile device
  • Optional:
    • Family members or guests
    • Your camera
    • Spending money for Red Wolf swag in the bookstore

How to get here

Directions & Parking

IU East is located at 2325 Chester Blvd, Richmond, IN 47374 (directions on Google & iPhone).

When you arrive on campus, follow the signs for New Student Orientation and parking. You will park in either the Student Events Center or Whitewater Hall parking lots.

NSO Check-In

Student check-in is just outside the entrance to the Student Events Center (just inside if it rains). Follow the "Welcome to Red Wolf Nation" signs
