Johnny Fike found IU East after a cross-country program was cut at the school he originally planned to attend. When that program was suddenly gone, “I had like a month to find a school. Essentially, I was a walk-on the first semester,” at IU East.

Besides cross country, he soon immersed himself in multiple experiences including Pep Band, the BOSS program, the Student Activities Advisory Team, virtual reality lab and more recently serving as an IU East Police cadet. As he nears graduation, he sees his change as something just meant to be. He can’t imagine having gone anywhere else.
The team in the School of Business, combined with the IU Police Department became a path to his new career in a full-time position on the Carmel, Indiana, police force. “Without IU East I wouldn’t have any of the opportunities I’ve been given.” The great connections and opportunities IU East brings extends into its family atmosphere, especially for Johnny who experienced a challenging time when he lost a close friend in 2020.“
All the support and outreach I received was amazing – the dean of students reached out to me. At a bigger school, you wouldn’t get that. IU East was a life-changing experience.”
Apply now. It’s simple. It’s free.
In August 2022, IU announced the application fee to IU East is now free. We all know that college is an investment, and every bit toward that investment helps.
Next Step: Submit Official Document
Now that you have completed the IU East application whether online or by mail, your next step is to gather together your required documents and materials. This step is very important because only when we have all of the proper documentation can we provide you with an admission decision. Be sure to submit your documents through the proper channels to avoid any delays in the process.
Here is a checklist of the documents and items that you will need to submit. We recommend printing a copy for your records.
- An official high school transcript (this must be mailed in a sealed envelope from the high school or submitted electronically via your high school guidance office)
- Beginning 2021, IU East is Test Optional. The Applicant will be given the choice at the time of application if they wish to have their test scores considered as part of their application. Test scores are required for merit-based scholarships.
- If you are a Twenty-First Century Scholar or requested your application fee to be waived, please submit the waiver with the rest of your materials.
- If you earned college credit while in high school, submit an official transcript from each college or university (not necessary if you earned IU college credit).
