Our beautiful campus offers a number of ways to get fit and enjoy recreational and sporting activities.  The Reid Wellness Zone is our campus fitness center, great for strength-training and cardiovascular exercise; connected to the fitness center is the Springwood Gymnasium.

Reid Wellness Zone (Fitness Center)

Our modern campus fitness center, great for strength-training and cardiovascular exercise, the Reid Wellness Zone is accessed from the Graf Center in Springwood Hall.

Membership is free to all IU East students, faculty, and staff; entrance requires that you present your CrimsonCard, day pass, or membership card.

Membership is free to IU East students, faculty, and staff; CrimsonCard required for entry.

Other guests will require a day pass ($3) or membership card (fees listed below). You can purchase a day pass or membership card at the Office of Student Accounts (Bursar) in Whitewater Hall.

Breaks

The Reid Wellness Zone has modified hours during breaks when classes are not in session; they will be posted in the fitness center prior to the start of the break.

Closures

The Reid Wellness Zone closes when campus is closed (for example, holidays when no classes are scheduled or events that cause classes to be cancelled or campus to close).

Springwood Gym

Shoot hoops, play a round of futsol, or goof around with an impromptu dodgeball!

You can check out recreational equipment like yoga mats, sports balls, jump ropes, sound system, etc. from the Reid Wellness Zone.

Note: Classes, practices, and events are held from time to time in the Springwood Gym, so check the schedule on the door or at the student desk for availability.

Gym is located in Springwood Hall and is accessible from the Graf Center.

Questions should be directed to Wellness Zone attendants.

  1. Start walking at the Center for Health Promotion (Hayes Hall, Room 001) towards the lobby area.
  2. Walk through the lobby area taking the hallway towards room 075.
  3. At room 075, turn around and backtrack to the lobby area.
  4. Take stairs in the basement lobby up to the main floor lobby.
  5. Walk from the stairwell toward the main doors, turning left at the hallway to room 115 (the Information Commons).
  6. Follow the hallway along the Information Commons to the back stairwell (do not enter Library side door).
  7. Take the stairs up to the 2nd floor (Nursing Staff Office Area).
  8. Continue straight out of staircase door.
  9. Turn right where the hall ends (at this point, you should be walking towards the 2nd floor computer lab, passing room 209).
  10. Turn right at room 219 (hallway before the 2nd floor computer lab).
  11. Turn left (should be going into the 2nd floor lobby).
  12. Walk around the staircase opening by first passing the elevator doors and then the main staircase access.
  13. Turn left into Nursing Office Area (the faculty office directory board is on the wall at the turning point).
  14. Follow the hallway until it ends and turn left to take the back stairwell down to the main floor.
  15. Continue straight to the Hayes Hall main lobby, passing room 115 (computer lab) entry. Do NOT enter the library.
  16. Walk to the stairwell that leads to basement and take it to the basement.
  17. Exit staircase and walk back to the Center for Health Promotion.

Total Distance = approximately 0.25 miles.
Complete this 4 times to equal 1 mile.
Stairs = 2 flights up and 2 flights down.

  1. Start at the main entry (next to stained glass window of the Graf Center).
  2. Walk towards the Office of Campus Life.
  3. Take the stairs on the right up to the 2nd floor.
  4. Turn left at the top of the stairs and walk around the 2nd floor square 3 times (one pass should include turning right at the Chancellor’s Office, right at room 211, and right at room 217A. This puts you back at the stairs where you started.).
  5. At the end of the third pass, continue around again but do not turn at room 211; instead, continue straight down the stairs to the main floor.
  6. At the bottom of the stairs, walk straight toward the stained glass window.

Total Distance = approximately 0.25 miles. 
Complete this 4 times to equal 1 mile. 
Stairs = 1 flight up and 1 flight down

  2. Walk down the main hall to room 127.
  3. Turn right into office area.
  4. Follow the office hallway back around to the main hall.
  5. At the main hall, take the stairs at your left up to the 2nd floor.
  6. Turn right at the top of the stairs and walk down the 2nd floor main hall to room 227.
  7. Turn right into the office area.
  8. Follow the office hallway around back to the 2nd floor main hall.
  9. At the main hall, take the stairs at your left up to the 3rd floor.
  10. Turn right at the top of the stairs and walk down the 3rd floor main hall to room 327.
  11. Turn right into office area.
  12. Follow the office hallway around back to the 3rd floor main hall.
  13. At the main hall, take the stairs at your left down to the 2nd floor.
  14. Turn right at the bottom of the stairs and walk down the 2nd floor main hall.
  15. Follow the 2nd floor main hall to the stairs.
  16. Take the stairs down to the main hallway on the ground floor.
  17. Turn left at the bottom of the stairs and follow the main hall to room 102 (the computer lab next to the exterior door that faces the quad).

Total Distance = approximately 0.25 miles. 
Complete this 4 times to equal 1 mile. 
Stairs = 2 flights up and two flights down.

  1. Start in front of the Student Accounts office (Bursar's office) facing the main lobby.
  2. Walk through the lobby then turn right to take the stairs down towards the bookstore.
  3. Walk past the bookstore and take the stairs at the end of the hall on the left up to the 2nd floor.
  4. Turn left at the top of the stairs and follow the hall to the 2nd floor seating area.
  5. Turn left and walk into the Whitewater faculty office area.
  6. Starting by turning left, complete one pass around the office area hallway.
  7. Walk out of the office area and turn left at the vending machines.
  8. Walk down this hallway until you reach the end and turn right.
  9. Take the stairs down to the first floor.
  10. At the bottom of the stairs, follow the hallway past The Den cafeteria.
  11. When you reach the main hallway, turn right.
  12. Walk through the lobby to the Student Accounts office (Bursar's office).

Total Distance = approximately 0.25 miles. 
Complete 4 times to equal 1 mile. 
Stairs = 1 flight up and 1 flight down.

  1. Begin at the bottom of the long, curved, paved ramp south of the Whitewater Hall courtyard.
  2. Head northeast towards Springwood Hall.
  3. Turn right and walk along the curved patio of Springwood Hall (outside of the Graf Center).
  4. Turn right with the path that leads to Hayes Hall.
  5. Turn left towards Hayes Hall then right down the path going south west along the front of Hayes Hall.
  6. Follow the path through the woods and over the bridge until you reach the parking lot.
  7. Turn right and follow the path leading northwest towards Tom Raper Hall.
  8. In front of Tom Raper Hall, make a loop around the grassy area (with tree) immediately in front of the main entrance to Tom Raper Hall and walk back from where you came.
  9. Turn left to follow the same path over the bridge and through the woods back towards Hayes Hall.
  10. Turn left when you reach the entrance to Hayes Hall.
  11. At the fork in the path, veer left towards the quad.
  12. Continue through the quad until you reach the base of the long, curved, paved ramp where you began.
