Domestic and family violence occurs when someone tries to control their partner or other family members in ways that intimidate or oppress them. Controlling behaviors can include threats, humiliation, emotional abuse, physical assault, sexual abuse, financial exploitation and social isolation. If you or a friend are struggling with such a situation, please reach out to the Dean of Students or Counselor.

Financial problems cause great stress and affect all areas of a person’s life. You are not alone. Seven out of ten college students felt stressed about their finances.

Hunger makes it harder to learn, so it's important, especially as a college student, to make sure you're eating, and eating well! The IU East and local communities are here to provide support.
People harm their own bodies in attempts to relieve pain and emotional trauma, but this is only temporary and can lead to long-term damage or even life-threatening situations. Signs of self-injury include:

College can be stressful & overwhelming. Before they even realize there’s a problem, students can become dependent on drugs or alcohol as coping mechanisms for their stress. If you can’t get through the day without a drink, a joint, a pill or something else, please reach out to a trusted advisor, faculty member, or counselor.
You are not alone in your housing struggles. A 2018 survey found that 36% of students at four year institutions experienced housing insecurity and 9% of students at these institutions experienced homelessness. We want to help you so you can feel safe, secure, and able to focus on your studies.
