Understand Emeritus status

Typically, departments will consider extending Emeritus status at the time of retirement. If recommended by the department, the title must be included on the retirement eDoc that will route through the usual campus approvals. Note that Emeritus status does not necessarily require a faculty member to be eligible for IU Retiree status.  TRUE??
