Once you've selected the funding opportunity you'd like to apply for, you'll need to prepare a thorough and persuasive proposal and budget. Your first conversation should be with the Office of Academic Affairs; let them know what you're applying for and you'll be able to rely on them for:
- advice and timeline suggestions,
- guidance on meeting IU, federal, and state compliance requirements,
- hands-on assistance and review of your proposal,
- information about additional support available from IU,
- and much more.
Comprehensive information about proposal and budget development at IU (as well as other research related resources) is maintained at research.iu.edu, and is your best online resource for the latest services, recommendations, and requirements as you get started.
Please note: Applications for external funding must be approved by IU before submission.
